Mid-July has arrived, and it's time to meet the new Lisette for Butterick's fall collection! Where did the first half of summer go? Honestly, I can't believe we're already here. In any case, I'm super excited about these two new styles and can't wait to share all the details.
Let's start with the first one: Lisette for Butterick B6482. This dress has caught my eye from the very beginning, and it turns out, this covered-up silhouette is predicted by the New York Times to define this decade. After a few years of revealing red-carpet looks, it's refreshing to see something more modest and classic.
### The Details
What I love about this dress is the subtle yet stylish sleeve design. There's a shoulder pleat on the raglan sleeve, adding just the right amount of volume. It’s not over-the-top but still gives the dress an interesting flair. For those who prefer a defined waist, there’s no need to worry—this blouson-style top doesn’t sacrifice shape, though you could easily adjust it with darts if you prefer a slimmer fit.
The topstitching detail adds a sporty touch, and I’m particularly fond of the inverted box pleat at the center front—it echoes the pleat on the sleeves. And then there’s the collar option. View A skips the collar entirely, while View B includes a small collar. Personally, I’m a fan of collars—they add a touch of elegance.
The skirt itself is versatile, with a relaxed fit that pairs beautifully with the fitted top. It’s a great style for those of us who need different sizes for tops and bottoms, making it easier to customize the fit. The inverted box pleat at the front gives the dress a polished finish, while the gathered waistline keeps it casual yet chic.

I’ve been thinking about making this dress in a pale gray fabric, similar to the photo below. But the gingham version with black belts on the left is so charming!
What’s funny is that I didn’t realize until I put these photos together that it’s the same dress worn by two different women. I think it looks equally good with boots, don’t you?
I adore this dress in solid colors. Both looks feel soft and comfortable, and I imagine they’d be incredibly elegant and cozy during the winter.
Using a patterned fabric would be a blast too! I’m on the lookout for something like the texture-rich fabric below. It’s beautiful, isn’t it?

This week, I didn’t have time to write a full post about fabric recommendations, but here are some ideas. Linens are always a favorite of mine—Gray Lines Linen offers a fantastic range of colors and weights. Denim and chambray are also great options, especially Robert Kaufman’s offerings, which are consistently excellent. Their linen-cotton blend denim is a personal favorite. Lightweight ponte is another fabric I’m eager to try. For this dress, I’m leaning toward a lightweight dove-colored wool suiting fabric.
