Washing and maintenance of wool, acrylic fabrics, sweaters (figure)

The ingredients in common detergents help to remove dirt from the clothes, but at the same time the washing liquid is alkaline. Alkaline solutions may affect the dye on the wool, causing the clothes to fade or become flowery.

High doses of alkaline solution can even damage wool fibers. Not only does this mean that your clothes will wear out faster, but it will not look good or feel good.

When washing, high temperatures may cause dye fading and damage to wool fibers, so do not use hot water. The water temperature should be comfortable to the touch.

Tip: Avoid letting the water wash directly onto the wool fabric as this may tarnish the wool fibers.

  Hand wash or machine wash?

Wool is a fine fabric and should always be handled with care. Some wool garments can be machine washed, please check the care labels carefully.

However, before placing any wool fabric in the washing machine, please confirm:

Care label indicates washable

Follow the instructions on the care label

Follow the correct washing procedure – the milder the better. If in doubt, please check the product brochure

If the wool garment is not machine washable, or if you have any questions, please wash it by hand. This work should be done in a bathtub or in a bucket, gently scrub for a few minutes, then gently squeeze it to remove as much water as possible.

Wet wool garments should not be twisted or wrung out as this may cause the garment to be pulled and deformed

Rinse: gentle rinse

After hand washing, the wool fabric is rinsed at the same temperature as the wash water temperature. Gently squeeze to remove as much water as possible.

Dry: Do not wring out, so it is easy to damage wool fabric

Very fine wool is not recommended for machine washing, such as mohair and Angora rabbit fur. Instead, simply roll a towel and squeeze as much water as possible. To remove excess moisture from other types of wool, use a low-grade spin-drying procedure (see your care label instructions).

When the excess water has been removed, turn the clothes over and lay them flat on a flat surface to dry and flatten them to their original shape and size. Make sure the wool fabric is kept away from direct sunlight and prevents the wool fabric from fading. Do not use a washing machine to dry, away from fire or radioactive sources.

Ironing: ironing with steam

Many wool garments do not require ironing, but very smooth fabrics may look better after ironing. Make sure you use damp heat. If you can't use a steam iron, you can gently iron it on a clean, damp cloth and iron it up and down instead of on the clothes. Do not iron all wet clothing and wait until they are half dry or slightly wet.

Acrylic knitwear:

Acrylic is easy to stretch, so be careful and follow the instructions for each garment care label. Otherwise, the cardigan may shrink into a tights or become loose after washing.

Clothing decoration:

Garments on clothing can affect the way they are washed and the washing products used. For example, if a piece of clothing has a leather collar, the care label may say, "dry cleaning only", although the rest of the garment is washable.
